Hi!
Today is our last day in Switzerland; we’ve really enjoyed our time here and it’s going to be bittersweet to leave.
Our flight leaves out of Zürich so we’ll be making our way there from Grindelwald, but along the way we’re going to stop in Engelberg to check out Titlis.
We got an early start and packed up our car, said bye to our amazing hostel and it’s staff, then hit the road. The weather looks to be in our favor for getting some views today!

It took us about 1.75 hours to arrive in Engelberg, a nestled town under the towering mount Titlis. Driving through the winding roads we arrived at the Rotir the carries you up to Titlis.

To reach the top of Titlis, you ride 1 Tram and 2 Gondola’s. However, the top Gondola that takes you to the peak of Titlis was closed due to technical difficulties. A little bit of a bummer, but we could still visit the first two stops: Trüebsee & Skihütte Stand.

Since the weather was good we headed straight up to Skihütte Stand, which is at an elevation of 8,038 feet. We were not disappointed as the clouds were prominent, but only added to the picturesque views. We journeyed around a little and found a less crowded area by a chairlift that would no doubt be functional in winter. The ledge we were on had views of both sides and there were all these amazing little flowers that Zaq and I loved!

We made our way back down to Trüebsee, which is a exquisite little lake at an elevation of 3,865 feet and fringed by pasture. The lake is fed by the Trübseebach waterfall, which flows off the Titlis Glacier, so the water is a vibrant blue-green. We strolled around the lake and found a nice spot to enjoy lunch.

As we made it halfway around the lake, we found an all weather hammock and after all the hiking we have done the past week, we were more than happy to pit stop and rest our feet for a few minutes.

Weather started to move in so we decided it was time to make the stroll back to the Rotir.
Once back in Engelberg, we stopped for some caffeine before continuing on to Zürich.
We said goodbye mentally to all the country side things we loved: cows, sheep, goats, butterflies, rolling hills, the sound of crickets & bells, a d of course, little Swiss Kitties – knowing we were on our way back to the city side of Switzerland.
We arrived in Zürich ahead of schedule, so we decided to park and check out the area around the Opera House along the water. It was sunny and hot, so we stopped to dip our feet in and cool off a bit, while taking in the beauty of Zürich.

The city definitely had a different vibe than Geneva, which we found ourselves wishing we could soak in more. The city is truly beautiful and has an energy that is unmistakable and contagious. Maybe next time? 😀

We were all checked in for our flight, but needed to get the rental car back in time, so we made our way toward Zürich airport. It was great to drive through the city and see a little more of it. Funny too, we had just gotten used to all the traffic signs and lingo in Switzerland for navigating their roads and now we’re off to a Croatia, let’s hope we pick it up just as quick!
