Last Day

Hi All!

Today is our last day on our trip and what a journey it’s been! We fly out at 16:00, so we have a good portion of day to spend in Dublin still.

We decided to go back to the Old Trinity Library and look at the book of Kells, it’s one of my favorite places in Dublin. This time we went right when they opened in hopes of beating the big crowds and enjoying the smell of old books in peace.

It didn’t take long for the crowds to pour in, once they did we headed out to Phoenix Park, the largest park in Dublin, because we wanted to explore more of the city we hadn’t seen yet. It was a 20 minute bus ride from Dublin Centre to the park, at which point we enjoyed the scenic route through different Dublin neighborhoods.

We strolled through the park; it felt good to walk for a while considering the day before we were mostly on a bus. The trees lined the walking path and they went so many directions, we went were our feet took us. We happened upon a pond with all sorts of birds, different ducks, swans, and other little ones fluttering about. We sat and watched them for a bit, living out their bird lives.

Looking at the time, more slipped by than we thought and we needed to get back toward city centre so we could get some lunch before we went toward the airport. We also really wanted one last pint of Guinness before leaving Ireland.

Hopping on the bus back, we went into The Stag Head pub right off Dame Lane. We ordered our last pints along with the house fish and chips. We savored all of it while talking about our trip and reminiscing. We labeled our highs, lows, and buffalos. The High was in Croatia swimming by Rosti Slap waterfall to cool off from the hot day. It was so beautiful and something we’ll never forget. The low was not being able to visit Bachalpsee in Switzerland, it was something that drew us to Grindelwald, but we still had a great adventure and will have to return later in summer season another time to see its beauty. The buffalo of our trip was spotting all the cats and interacting with them. They helped us coop with missing our fur babies at home.

We paid our tab and headed to the airport to get return home. Definitely going to cherish all the memories and places we explored, but we’re both ready to be homeward bound.

We’ll see you state side shortly!
