Hey All,
I am so very pleased to tell you we made it to Switzerland today! Hallelujah!
We landed early and got settled and washed up in our Airbnb, then went out to enjoy the gorgeous weather.

First we made our way to Bains des Paquis, which are public baths along the pier of the West shore of Lake Geneva.

You can also grab some lunch at the pier side terrace and all this sits right in perfect view of Jet d’Eau, the city centers main attraction. Fun facts about this jet of water: it continuously shoots 500 liters of water 140 meters high, per second. Although it once had a practical use of being a safety valve for a hydraulic power plant back in 1886. It is now a permanent monument since the people of Geneva loved how it looked.

We sunbathed, we swam, ate lunch, watched this Swan paddle through with her fuzzy babies…all while enjoying the spectacular Jet d’Eau. It was amazing.

Then we headed toward Vielle Ville or Old Town Geneva. We walked around all the cobblestone roads and took in the historic area. Then sat and had some Swiss fondue for lunch – yum!

After eating way too much cheese, we walked it off by journeying to Carouge, a beautiful part of town with a more leisure ambience and rows of painted townhouses with wooden shutters. This area is filled with great little boutiques and art. We enjoyed our time there before walking back to Vielle Ville to have dinner.

Back in Vielle Ville, we found this great Brasserie and had some authentic Rosti. It was delicious and filling! While sitting in this old part of town, in great weather, eating great food, the Brasserie had a vey talented man playing guitar. He sang the most beautiful songs in French and Spanish. It was a “pitch me” moment and an excellent way to wrap up our first day in Switzerland.

We’re off to the Alps tomorrow so turning in early!
